Description of Layout from Forwards:
At the bow of the yacht there is simple and well organized accommodation for two crew, with a heads compartment. Aft of this is the new galley which runs athwartships across the yacht with ample corian surfaces and massive refrigeration; making serious cooking a reality.
The lower deck saloon leads off this, another new addition for ATALANTA, with comfortable seating. There is ample light from overhead hatches, generous ports in the hull and it is the perfect place to relax.
Up steps to the deck saloon with wonderful period chairs, panoramic views and a writing desk. From the deck saloon you access the steering position, on deck, with protected helm and large, comfortable seating areas.
From the deck saloon there are steps down into the aft sleeping accommodation. All this has been restored to its original condition when ATALANTA was built. There is a spacious owners stateroom aft with heads compartment, and two further guest cabins with upper and lower berths. There is a further cabin with its own heads compartment; which is also accessed by the other guest cabins.
The engineroom aboard ATALANTA is accessed from the helm station.

Rebuild History
In 2005 the current owner instructed Dorr Lemmer of Holland to carry out a full refit/rebuild of ATALANTA. Felix Buytendijk was retained to deal with the interior design. The necessary steelworks were carried out by Werkvreugde. The technical aspects of the refit were managed by Beekman, and De Vries built the awnings. The works were carried out between 2006 and 2008 and covered the following aspects:
Superstructure repaint.
Teak deck replacement.
Mast rebuild.
Anchor winch rebuild.
Electronics replacement.
Replacement of the bridge instrumentation area.
Replacement upholstery.
Renewal of galley.
Remodeling of the dining area and saloon.
Replacement biminis.
Electrical wiring and systems replacement.
Fitting of bowthruster.
Fitting of air conditioning.
Fitting watermaker.
This list is by no means exhaustive but does cover the main areas.
Summer 2011
ATALANTA returned to Dorr Lemmer in 2011 for a freshen up. Work completed includes:
Frames in rudder compartment replaced as part of ongoing maintenance programme.
Humidity damage in two guest cabins rectified. This was caused by a minor deck leak which has also been solved.
Both cabins were also refurbished.
ATALANTA History
ATALANTA was built for Mr B E Ruys, a shipowner in Rotterdam, and was originally called SIROCCO. He visited Scheepwerf de Vlijt (a founding part of the Feadship organization) to see a friends yacht under construction and then ordered her, she was hull number 544. She was built between June 6 1957 and July 19 1958. She was the largest motor yacht launched in 1958.
She is an important part of Hollands nautical heritage and her rebuild at Dorr Lemmer reflects and is loyal to this fact.
Collateral material relating to this history is available on request.
Brokers Remarks
ATALANTA is in sparkling shape. Her sympathetic restoration has been completed to a high standard and she is maintained carefully. She offers comfortable cruising with all the modern amenities such as bowthruster and air conditioning, yet with beautiful classic lines that will always turn heads. Her interior is atmospheric and comfortable.
