The hull is made of hand-laid GRP with integral longitudinal and transverse beams providing additional strength and rigidity. Structural bulkheads are hand-bonded to the hull and the engine bed is reinforced with steel plates.
The lead keel is attached to a moulded extension beneath the boat using stainless steel bolts.
The GRP rudder is moulded around a 30mm stainless steel rudder shaft with strengthening arms into the rudder blade, operated by a tiller in the cockpit and wheel (or as an option an autohelm) from inside.
Rudder shaft bearings are of stainless steel with deldrinium glide-pieces.
The standard hull is white with a blue waterline, with a dark blue hull and white waterline as an option.

Deck
The GRP deck is also hand-laid, with a balsa-cored sandwich construction providing added strength and good insulation. The hull and the deck are through-bolted and bonded over with hand-laid GRP. The raised toe-rail incorporates moulded scuppers and is finished with a practical rubber capping (which can be upgraded to teak, as an option). The deck surface features a moulded non-slip surface. At the bow, there is a self-draining anchor locker, complete with a 15kg anchor with chain and warp.
The spacious self-draining cockpit has a very large full-depth locker on the port side, a second locker to starboard, and cave lockers with teak trims on both sides for smaller items. The cockpit seats are laid with 11mm solid teak, providing a warm and attractive surface.

Deck Fittings
Stainless steel pulpit, pushpit and transom ladder.
Stainless steel stanchions with twin plastic coated stainless wires (630 mm high).
Windows and roof hatches with aluminium frames and toughened glass. Two opening hatches above the pilot position and forward cabin. Two dorade vents above the main saloon, and a circular deck vent above the galley.

Furlex headsail furling system, with genoa.
Halyard winch on cabin roof.
Two secondary winches on mast for halyards and reefing lines.
Two genoa winches in cockpit.
25mm genoa-tracks with cars.
Mainsail X-track with adjustable car.

Interior

Style
The interior is finished in satin-varnished Burmese teak and teak-faced plywood as standard, with mahogany as an option. The floorboards are teak and holly-faced plywood. A wide choice of fabrics for the cushions and curtains are offered. Cushions are through-buttoned and finished with a knee roll for extra comfort.

Accommodation
Entering the cabin through the companionway, on the port side is the L-shaped galley. Set into the laminate work surface (Corian is an option) there is a gimballed two burner gas cooker with oven, an 80 litre cold box (ready for a fridge installation), and a stainless steel sink. A gas stop valve is located near the cooker.
Hot and cold pressurised water is supplied to the sink, along with foot-pumped seawater for rinsing dishes.
An extra galley work surface hinges up from the bulkhead adjacent to the saloon seating, with a cushion which allows it to double as a “navigators” seat. The top of the engine box can also be used as a galley work surface.
On the starboard side of the companionway is the quarterberth, which extends back underneath the cockpit, and the internal steering and navigation station, with pilot seat and sloped chart and instrument table.
Moving forwards, the saloon seating is on both sides of the boat. The saloon can seat up to 5 persons. The saloon table has drop-leaf sections that lift to provide a large table. The saloon seat on the starboard side has a “trotter box” for sleeping, and on the port side the standard seat is full length, though with an option to shorten this to allow the galley to be extended. Along both sides of the main cabin are various sliding and open lockers.
Further forward, the heads compartment is on the port side. Included is a hand-pump marine toilet system including a 40 litre holding tank, emptied by a separate pump into the sea or via a deck fitting. Pressurised hot and cold water is supplied to the sink.
In the forward sections of the yacht is a generous double cabin V-berth arrangement with plenty of storage. An opening hatch provides ventilation and an emergency exit route.
Fitted carpets are an option.

Engine
The standard engine is the Volvo model 2030 29 hp freshwater-cooled marine diesel driving a fixed 3-blade propeller via a 25mm stainless steel shaft.
The engine compartment is situated under the companionway. There is good service access, mostly from within the main cabin and the engine is well insulated by 25 mm aluminium surfaced sound proofing material.
The stainless steel fuel tank holds approximately 115 litres and has a separate fuel valve. It is filled from the deck.
The instrument panel at the navigator’s station includes a rev counter and voltmeter, with warning lights and an audible alarm for water temperature, charging and oil pressure.

Water System
The 115 litre stainless steel fresh water tank feeds a pressurised hot and cold water system powered by an electric water pump.
Engine controls are provided both in the cockpit and at the pilot position.
In the cockpit, a manual bilge pump is installed.

Electrical
The 12 V DC system includes one 70Ah starter battery and one 70Ah service battery, charged by a 14V/55A engine alternator and isolated by separate battery switches.
At the navigation station the hinged switchboard contains switches with automatic fuses, a fuel gauge and a 12v power socket.
Lighting is installed throughout the interior including a chart light.
External lights include international navigation lights and compass and instrument lighting.

Additional Equipment
Two fire extinguishers. Flagstaff. Two winch handles. Four fenders. Four 8 metre mooring lines.

Other features
Degerö Yachts
The Degero boatyard was founded in 1980 by Risto Kristeri and Seppo Mäkelä. Their goal was to create fine sailing yachts of the very highest quality, hand crafted from beginning to end using the best materials available. They also wanted to make yachts that people would want to spend time on, whether at sea or in port, and the designs and specifications were developed with this in mind. Both Risto and Seppo are still actively involved in the company, and their success is reflected in every Degero now afloat and the attention to detail and finish that is embodied, more than ever, in each new yacht.

Their first model was the Degerö 28 MS, a design that was developed by Risto and Seppo themselves. It has been in continuous production and is still in demand today, offering a combination of good sailing and comfort that’s hard to find in a small yacht. With a distinctive rounded stern, generous beam and elegant sheer line, she is an attractive and purposeful yacht. With a long keel, she is well mannered in a seaway, looking after her crew in open water. Inside, her raised coachroof and good hull volume give her spacious and light accommodation plus the benefit of an internal helm position. Five berths in two cabins, a separate heads compartments and a well appointed galley complete the specification.
In 1985 the yard launched the Degerö 35 S, a heavy displacement blue water cruising yacht with a distinctive curved transom, like her smaller sister. Designed by Håkan Södergren from Sweden, she has a long fin keel, a skeg-supported rudder, wide side decks and an open foredeck, plus a comfortable and safe cockpit. These features, along with her heavy construction, make her a capable offshore yacht. A traditional layout below includes six berths in three cabins, galley, heads and chart table near the companionway, and a choice of mahogany or teak interiors.
In 1990 the first Degerö 33 DS was produced. Developed by the Finnish designer Hans Groop, the 33 DS offers deck-saloon accommodation in the hull of a pure sailing yacht. Her easily-driven form has a lead keel and semi-balanced rudder. Her aft cockpit is both safe and easy to use, with wheel steering, self-tailing winches and many other features as standard. Below decks, the 33 is very well appointed, with a 5/6 berth layout, beautiful joinery and luxurious upholstery to create an inviting and practical interior. With an extended transom and boarding step, the 331 is now offered alongside the 33.
In 1998 the yard revealed the Degerö 38 DS, developed by the Degero team in conjunction with Olli Salmela of Finland. Designed as a comfortable blue water cruising yacht, she is the flagship of the Degero range. Like the 33, the design brief was to create a powerful and exciting sailing yacht with the added benefit of the raised coachroof to provide an interior that is spacious and comfortable. The 38 DS is truly a yacht that stimulates thoughts of long passages to new destinations, carried out in comfort and style.
Launched in 2000, the Degero 31 retains the important features of her larger sisters, and embodies these in an easily-handled 31 foot hull. Modern hull lines, with a fine entry, broader aft sections and a lead keel with a bulb, make this a fast yacht, whilst the raised coachroof offers perhaps the smallest deck saloon yacht of her kind. Ideal for short-handed sailing, she is well mannered, exciting yet easy to sail with a carefully designed cockpit and wide side and fore decks. Inside the boat, an internal navigation/helm position, 3/4 berths and good-sized heads and galley complete this attractive and distinctive yacht.
In 2003, the Degero 36 DS was announced. Based on the hull of the 35 S, and designed by Håkan Södergren, she has the benefits of the deck saloon and internal helm coupled with the traditional lines of the heavy displacement blue water hull of the 35S. She retains the successful interior layout of the 33 and 38 foot models, with 5/6 berths, an internal navigation/helm station and the raised saloon seating. Outside, she is still every inch a blue water cruiser, and the raised coachroof blends smoothly into the overall lines to create a most attractive yacht. And she keeps the beautiful curved transom, all of which sets her well apart from the crowd. A stunning yacht, the first of which was launched in spring 2004.
