'Periquita' has had six owners from new and much of her gear has been extensively updated. The Sea Rover 28 has the advantage of shallow draft together with extra stability provided by a center ballast keel with bilge keels that enables her to take the ground easily. She is a sturdy boat that is capable of long distance travel.
Accommodation:
5 full length berths in 2 cabins with approx. 6'1" headroom. Par Brydon marine toilet (new 1998) in separate compartment. Dining table on central post (slides up and down). New Flavel Vanessa gas cooker with two burners, grill and oven. S/S galley sink with new water tank. Coolbox. Upholstery new 1998.
Mechanical:
Volvo Penta 2002, twin cylinder, 18hp diesel engine located under companionway, new in 1991. Shaft drive to fixed 3 blade propeller with new prop shaft in 2003 and bearings in 1997. Freshwater cooled. Morse controls.



2 x 85 amp/hour 12 volt batteries (new 2005) and one 100 amp/hour battery (new October 2006) all charging from 50 amp alternator on the engine. 240 volt shore supply. New Vetus battery changeover switch in 1995. Interior lighting.
Sails & Spars:
Masthead bermudan sloop rig. Black aluminium mast and boom, 1967. Mast stepped in tabernacle. Short bowsprit. Stainless steel standing rigging (new 1999). Terylene running rigging (1988 & 1992). Slab reefing mainsail. Seareef 50 headsail furling system. 2 x Lewmar 16 self tailing genoa sheet winches (new 2000). 2 x halyard winches on mast. New mainsail track and car (1998). New genoa tracks and cars (1998).

History & Construction:
Built by Kenneth Evans & Partners Ltd. in 1967. White GRP hull with iroko rubbing strake and handrails (both new 1997). White GRP decks with blue painted non-slip surfaces. Long center ballast keel with twin bilge keels. Encapsulated cast iron ballast. Tiller steering to keel hung rudder. Self draining cockpit with teak grating. Teak grab rails. Heads seacocks renewed in 2004. Underwater part of hull sandblasted in 1998 and left for two seasons then epoxied as a preventative measure - no osmosis was found at the time. New Perspex windows fitted to frames in 1999.
