RED MAGIC
ENGINE: Single installation Yanmar 3GM30F 27hp diesel inboard with shaft drive and fixed three-bladed propeller fitted with a rope cutter. The engine is fresh water cooled. Dual gear/ throttle controls are fitted in the cockpit and wheelhouse. Wheel steering in the cockpit is linked directly to the rudder. Hydraulic steering in the wheelhouse.
ACCOMMODATION: The Frances’s fore-cabin offers the usual twin V-berths or double berth arrangement with fiddled shelf stowage beneath. Moving into the saloon, there is a u-shaped dinette to port that can be converted to a double berth. There are lockers outboard behind the settee backs and the sturdy, fixed saloon table has fold-out flaps. Up in the pilot house there is a pilot berth to starboard and to port a quarter-berth behind the large chart table, which unfolds to take a half-size Admiralty chart.
DOMESTIC EQUIPMENT: The galley runs along the starboard side, opposite the dinette. It has a gimballed Plastimo Neptune 2000 gas cooker with two burners, grill and oven, a double stainless steel sink unit with hot and cold pressurised water, and there is a big worktop at the after end. Next to the stove is a refrigerated cold box. Aft of the fore-cabin on the port-hand side is the heads – surprisingly roomy for the size of boat – with a stainless steel sink, a shower and a teak floor grating. There is a diesel-fired cabin heater, which delivers warm air to the wheelhouse, saloon and fore cabin. Water is heated by the engine heat exchanger.
SPARS, RIGGING & SAILS: Keel-stepped Masthead Cutter rig with roller furling jib and roller furling staysail. The Spars and Headsail Furling gear are all by Seldon. A telescopic Whisker Pole is stowed on the mast. The Jib, self-tacking Staysail and Mainsail are by Hood. Cruising Chute. Lazyjacks fitted. Total sail area: 568 sq.ft.
ELECTRONICS: Swiftech VHF Radio, Raytheon ST50 Tridata unit with cockpit repeater, Raytheon SL72 Radar, Raytheon ST5000+ Autopilot with cockpit repeater and compass display connected to the ST50 unit, Navtex ICS NAV6+, Garmin GPS 45 handheld GPS unit with docking station, Clock & Barometer. Radio/ CD player fitted in the saloon. A shore-power mains system is fitted. 2x 105A Batteries.
DECK EQUIPMENT: The cockpit is fitted with 2x Lewmar 44ST winches and 2x 30ST winches. An Electric Windlass is fitted for the 16kg Delta Bower Anchor with 54m of 8mm chain. 11kg Delta Kedge secondary Anchor with 15m of chain and 40m of anchorbraid warp/ 2x Manual Bilge pumps. Emergency Tiller.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Radar reflector. Horseshoe lifebuoy. MOB recovery system. 4-person liferaft (next service due 2010). Wire Jackstays and several other safety harness anchorage points. Fire blanket in galley. 3x Fire extinguishers. 1x Automatic Fire extinguisher fitted in the engine compartment. Gas detector/ alarm.
