Description
CORBY 25Ep
The Corby 25 may be John Corby's smallest IRC design, but it's success has been phenomenal.

A Corby25 in Ireland was awarded Yacht of the Year 2009.
IRC2011 rating 0.944.
In 2010 we won the Pwllheli Autumn challenge with a string of firsts in all weather conditions proving her allround performance capabilities.
This year we were class 2 overall winner at Abersoch Keelboat week. In the light airs we won a couple of races by 7 and 5 minutes corrected. Our 25Ep is more eager to pick up on a fetch than the heavier polyester 25s, she takes off on waves and retains speed though the gybes making it easier on our bowman !
The responsive, easily driven hull with its narrow, slick waterline reduces the wetted surface to give the ultimate light airs performance and yet the deep fin keel plus heavy bulb(approx.1200KG) provides all the stability required in heavy airs when beating or running, combine this with the efficient High aspect rig, modest working sail area and large masthead spinnaker = Fantastic all-round performance with the boat-speed and upwind angles many larger Cruiser / Racers can only envy.
The ballast to weight ratio provides devastating upwind performance even when sailing shorthanded with reduced crew / weight on the rail.
A perfectly balanced hull form & rig configuration which rewards the helmsman every-time. With some intelligent sail trimming & precision steering this little boat becomes a 'Giant Slayer' !
Our previous Corby 25 'WIL2WIN' built with Glass Reinforced Plastic & Polyester resin had a reputable racing record, winning in some very hot fleets on both sides of the Irish Sea, the following results speak for themselves..
most notable :
Our debut 2005 regatta- Royal Dee in Holyhead class 2 overall winner
Winning PSC & SCYC regattas in past years- Pwllheli challenge overall, Liverpool YC Winter series, King Constantine Cup, Abererch Bowl, Tudwal Islands races, Eurwyn trophy, Pursuit races, Gwyndaf Cup. Celtic weeks, Keelboat weeks including being honoured with overall top performing yacht in both 2007 and 2008 in a fleet of 56 boats, (we are just 5x enthusiastic sailors in a SUPER FAST yacht).
Dublin Bay's DL regatta 2007 including 3x race wins and 2nd overall in a strong class 4. (Ireland's Premier Sailing poll voted Wil2win as overall favourite to win DL out of 400 boats !)- http://spinnakerweb.net/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=105
Leading Irish national championships in Howth 2008, ending up 3rd Echo & 5th overall in highly competative 33 boat class 3.
How about Dry sailing her here in Pwllheli- costs less than £1000 for a 6 month sailing season.
The C.25Ep Project-
To achive the ultimate performance, a stiffer, lighter Hull & Deck is laminated with FRP in Epoxy resin.
In order to reduce pitching moment, we have kept the weight to a minimum in both the fore & aft hull sections.
The deck, ringframes & stringers have been constructed with sandwiched closed cell foam.
The rudderstock & tiller has been constructed ultilizing Carbon fibre with a composite rudderblade.
She has been post cured @ over 50 degrees C for 14 hours to increase stiffness by 20%.
The topsides are Snow White with Misty Grey decks and waterline stripes, all professionally sprayed using 545 epoxy primer, undercoat then durable G-Line paint all from AWLGRIP.
The lightweight Lombardini 13Hp twin cylinder diesel is installed on a saildrive with folding propeller.
A few key advantages with the Lombardini Marine 502M power units are:
Total package weight, including saildrive - only 108kgs.
The hydrodynamic design of the saildrive leg makes it the most slender production saildrive on the market.
Exhaust emission well below EEC requirements.
