The Carter 33 was designed by Dick Carter of the USA to be a production ¾ Ton IOR Racer. In the 1976 World Champions held in the UK, the Carter was the top scoring production yacht of the series.

ARIADNE
ENGINE: The Diesel shaft drive Yanmar 3YM21 (350hrs), complete with 2:1 gearbox, 32mm propeller shaft and a 16 x 11 R/H 3-bladed propeller matched to hull, engine and gearbox, delivers a rating of 30hp and was professionally installed new in 2004. Access to and around the engine is excellent, and fuel is supplied via a Vetus 70 litre fuel tank.
ACCOMMODATION: Unlike many of her contemporaries, the Carter has substantial accommodation and comfort below decks to ensure the sailing performance is not the only factor enjoyed when cruising or relaxing. The generous beam of 11’ 2” provides space to sleep and feed a crew of 7 people. There is also headroom of 6’ 3” in the main Saloon area which features a single settee berth to Port and Starboard, with pilot berths above. An Aft berth is situated behind the Forward facing Navigation table.
DOMESTIC EQUIPMENT: Galley to Starboard equipped with a 2-burner Stove, Grill and Oven, which was professionally installed by a CORGI registered installer in 2004. Vetus 110 litre freshwater tank, with foot pump to Galley Sink. Jabsco Sea Toilet.
SPARS, RIGGING & SAILS: Bermudan Sloop Masthead Rigged with Baby Stay. Keel stepped mast. All standing rigging replaced with new stainless steel wire, and all running rigging replaced with new in July 2004. Seldon Furling Head Sail gear. Main (2x reefing points & 1x deep reef) with long battens and self-stowing cover, lazy-jacks, and reefing blocks – all new 2005. Spinnaker Pole.
ELECTRONICS: 2007 Raymarine C80 Radar/ GPS Chartplotter with large screen. 2007 NASA SX35 DSC VHF Radio. XM 2000 VHF Handheld Radio. 2007 NASA Clipper Navtex weather station. 2007 Forward facing FLS Gold II Echopilot. Echomax Radar Reflector. Simrad TP30 Tillerpilot with 2007 NMEA input from GPS. Completely rewired, with all new connections for battery charging and shore power etc. 2x Batteries located beneath Port side Settee berth. 2007 Battery monitor. Raymarine Fluxgate Compass. Plastimo Compass. Clock and Barometer. Clarion waterproof CD/ Radio with Clarion waterproof speakers.
DECK EQUIPMENT: The deck is spacious and uncluttered with all controls leading back to the cockpit for racing or just plain convenience when cruising, and is equipped with the following: 2x Antal No.40 Self Tailing winches. 4x smaller Barlow winches. Plastimo low profile 1000w Anchor Windlass complete with 60m of 8mm calibrated galvanised chain with SARCA galvanised size 5 Anchor attached. Secondary Anchor. Safety Lines. Jackstays. New guard wires, all Stanchions rebedded and deck strengthened in 2004. Warps & Fenders.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Fire Extinguishers. Avon 8-Man Canister Liferaft (serviced 2007). Horseshoe Lifebuoys. Adult (4-point) Safety Harnesses. Offshore Safety Flare pack. Fire Blanket. 2.3m Inflatable Dinghy with Mariner 2.5hp outboard engine.
