A delightful seaworthy cruising boat competitively priced. Rivals are well known for their cruising abilities - stable and safe at sea with good sailing qualities. The current owner has sailed her around Baltic, English Channel, local waters including 'Round The Island' race 2007. This rival is a pleasure to sail both with crew and single-handed. Originally purchased as a project to sail single-handed around the UK for which she is an ideal cruiser. Hull rigging and engine are sound. Price reflects ongoing 'cosmetic' renovation work. Sadly for sale due to owner upgrading to larger boat with partner.

The Rival is of classic keyhole design, light and airy, simple interior, 5 berths: double V in forepeak, 2 bunks in saloon and pilot berth extending aft behind the chart table. Large chart table with storage. Mahogony woodwork in saloon, varnished Oregan pine plank floor in good condition, Lavac head to port with new seat, space for new sink/ cupboard opposite on starboard. New upholstery in forepeak 2005. 2 ring Eno gas stove, sink with pressurised water and Isotherm fridge. 2 x 140 litre water tanks in the forepeak with pump. Plentiful storage under bunks, cupboards around saloon, starboard bunk shelves, table with end drawers. |

Hull, deck, anchors & gear
The boat is built in GRP both hull and deck and has a long fin keel in lead, glassed in, and a skeg in front of the rudder. She has received a sound survey in 2006 and preventative osmosis treatment in 2008 with professional guarantee (worth £5.5k). Overall original white gelcoat on topsides in good condition, top and cockpit has new teak, the teak trim around the edge is in good condition although requires re-varnishing.
Sprayhood mounted 1997 with new windows 2005. Full cockpit tent from 2002 with headroom of 175cm, windows and zippers in sides and aft. Dodgers.
Anchors: 35lb CQR anchor, 20lb Danforth anchor, 8m 8mm chain, 17m 10mm chain, 25m warp.
6 Fenders, mooring lines, buckets, radar reflector, MOB lightbuoy, horseshoe life ring, removable flagpole, boat hook, diesel containers 5 & 10 litres, 2 x 3kg blue gas bottles in well ventilated stern cockpit locker.
Manual bilge pump in cockpit and under chart table with 2 handles. Portable bilge pump.
Rigging and sails
Top shrouds, aft stay and bottlescrews replaced 2003 by Selden. Ronstan furling with new furling line.
Genoa average condition. Fully battened mainsail in good condition with slab reefing: 2 reefs and new reefing lines. Ronstan track with new traveller (2008). Old cruising chute repaired with patches, spinnaker pole, preventer pole. Brand new storm sail. 4 winches in cockpit: 2 self-tailing Lewmar 40 winches for the genoa.
Navigation and electronic equipment
Original Sestral compass mounted on coachroof. Garmin 65 fixed GPS, Standard Horizon Spectrum VHF (2002), Navik windvane, VDO windinstruments (1997), Target Depth Sounder, clock, barometer, stereo with 2 built in loud speakers to port under the sofa. Navigation lights. Radar reflector. Tiller Autopilot.
