A fine example of this solidly built yacht with a sound reputation as a serious offshore cruiser. 'Soay' has been well maintained & upgraded over the years by her current owner.
Mechanical: Beta 25 HP 3 cylinder diesel engine in recently re-soundproofed compartment under the companionway step. This engine was installed new in 2006 and has run for less than 50 hours. Electric start. Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger. Shaft drive via conventional packed stern gland with remote greaser. (Deep-Sea seal available if required). Maxprop 16” feathering propellor and Stripper rope cutter ( both new 2003). The propellor shaft and cutless bearing were also replaced in 2003. Morse single lever gear/throttle control. Waterproof engine control panel installed inside companionway. 70Amp alternator charging to 3 X 12 volt batteries (2 X 85Ah domestic plus 1 engine starting – all new in 2005). Dolphin All-in-one 240V shorepower system with 15Amp battery charger (2005). One 13A plug socket. Hot water tank (2006) with calorifier and immersion heater. Sails & spars: Masthead rigged sloop. Anodised aluminium mast and boom. Spinnaker pole. Stainless steel standing rigging, which was replaced in 2007 including bottlescrews and mast backing plates. Backstay adjuster. Polyester running rigging, with lines led back to cockpit. Selden Furlex headsail reefing system (new 2006).
