Moody 422 Vessel Overview
Sleeps four in two staterooms plus two settee berths for a total of six berths.
Starting forward, the guest stateroom features a wide V berth and ample storage with closet to port. Separate entrance to forward head.
Moving aft, large hanging locker/wet locker to port and and second entrance to forward head to starboard.
Main salon is the full width of the boat and can accommodate eight easily for dinner on a fold down table with two wings. There is lots of storage behind the settees and in shelves and cupboards above the settees. A 12-volt DC/120 volt AC TV/VCR is installed above the port settee. New LED lights in Salon and Master stateroom.
Moving aft the galley is to port and has a double stainless steel sink. There is a three burner LP Gas stove/oven and large 12 Volt DC refrigerator/freezer. Under the ladder is a 110 AC volt microwave oven. Hot water supplied by a new in 2008 Raritan water heater (engine and electric operated).
To starboard is a very large navigation center with chart table, seat (with storage and a galvanic separator underneath), There are new circuit breaker panels for AC and DC power, fuel and water gauges, a Ray Jeff VHF radio, AM/FM /CD player, AC Monitor for shore power and generator and other instrumentation.
Under the center cockpit is the engine compartment housing a 4JH3-TE 75 HP Turbo Charged Yanmar diesel engine installed in 2001 with 1800 hours. There is also a new (2007) Next Generation 3.5 KW diesel generator. It powers a 12000 BTU Marine Air air conditioner.
Moving aft through the full height passage (with opening port) to the rear stateroom is a former over/under pilot berth that has been converted to storage.
Moving aft is the owner’s full width stateroom with queen size centerline bed, two closets, storage compartments and a settee. Rear head and shower with opening port entered from the owner’s stateroom.
Deck Layout
Starting at the bow there is a 130% genoa (9 ounce Dacron for cruising) on a Furlex roller furling, an anchor locker that fully encloses a H3 Simpson Lawrence Windless, (new in 2006), shore side water connector and cable/phone hook up.
Moving aft is there are molded in non-skid decks, teak handholds, and new vinyl lifelines. Six large cleats two front two amidships and two aft and aluminum toe rail. There is a large hatch in the forward stateroom with a Nicor solar vent and a small hatch in the forward head with a passive vent. Two hatches and two dorades in the main salon,
Monkey bars surround the mast, which has a 16-foot whisker pole, attached. and three winches one self-tailing for main halyard. The main sail is a fully battened Doyle Stack Pack on Strong Track.
The Cockpit has a newly fabricated hard top dodger with easily removable Stratoglass 40 windshield. New Bimini with roll down side curtains. Cockpit seats and sole were recently refinished with Flexiteak vinyl inserts. There are also custom cockpit cushions and a teak fold down table. There are platforms for the radar screen and navigation computer monitor. Navigation instruments include wind speed/direction, depth and boat speed/log. There is an Autohelm 4000 autopilot on the wheel and two Cockpit speakers. There is a second Horizon VHF radio at the helm station
Moving aft is a large sun deck and a hatch with a Nico solar vent for the back stateroom that also has two opening ports
There are two very large lazarettes spaning the full width of the boat with two large opening hatch doors. We carry 6 five gallon desiel cans, 1 five gallon gas can, two dive tanks, numerous boat lines, pails, dive gear, four very large fenders and there is still room for more.
The rear of the boat has a sugar scoop swim platform accessed by steps and a swim ladder. Overhanging the swim platform is a dingy on Davis Davits toped with a 120-watt solar panel. There is also a Garhauer stainless steel dingy engine lift to starboard and an Air Marine wind generator to port.

Fast Comfortable Cruising
Blue Hwy is a fast comfortable cruiser that has been constantly maintained and upgraded by her owners. She is currently in Fort Lauderdale Florida, her homeport.
She has an easy to handle sail plan with a roller furling genoa and a Doyle Stack Pack fully battened main mounted on a “Strong” (high viscous nylon) Track. The upgraded 75 HP Turbo Charged Yanmar diesel engine drives an 18 inch feathering propeller. It was installed in 2001 and has 1800 hrs.
A new 3.5 KW Next Generation diesel generator installed in 2007 powers the 12000 BTU MarineAir air conditioner. Passive electricity is provided by a 120-watt solar panel mounted above the dingy davits and an Air Marine wind generator. There is a Hart/Freedom 2000 Inverter/Charger controlled by a Link 2000R controller/regulator that also controls the 140-amp engine driven alternator.
There are nine batteries in three groups. The house bank is made up of (6) six-volt cart batteries (new in 2007) in parallel and series producing 675 amp hours. The windlass group is (2) six-volt cart batteries in series. There is one #27 Deep Cycle 12 volt battery dedicated to engine and generator start up.
The comfortable center cockpit has a hard top dodger with removable (Stratoglass 40) windshield and a Sunbrella Bimini with roll down side sun curtains. The teak cockpit seats and sole have been upgraded to FlexTeak and there are custom seat cushions. Mounted on either side of the companionway are a Furuno radar monitor and 19” color computer navigation monitor. Navigation instruments include DataMarine Depth Meter, Windspeed/Direction, and Boat Speed/Log. There is an Auto Helm 4000 autopilot on the wheel.
The center cockpit layout affords you a queen-size centerline berth in the master stateroom and full width main salon. The pilot berths in the full height walkthrough were converted to spacious storage for sails, tools. spares, etc.
