Trusty T23 Designed in-house by Trusty, the Trusty T23 follows the traditional lines of her popular predecessor, the Trusty 21, but allows for much greater accommodation and improved performance. She inherits the same sea-kindly attributes as her smaller sister, having the same proven hull form with generous beam. The deep keel, curved sheerline, sensible freeboard and flared bow make her remarkably safe and dry when used in rough conditions. Diesel inboard power provides spectacular economy with extremely low maintenance costs. Cruising speeds of 7-8 knots are achieved, being driven by an economical 54hp Yanmar shaft-drive diesel engine providing a range of over 400 miles. The Trusty 23 has moved away from the traditional 'everything is extra' philosophy and comes with a superior specification as standard.
On stepping aboard you will notice how the solidly built traditional twin bilge keels and round displacement hull form give stability and a feeling of solidity to the vessel. The cockpit is spacious and comprehensively equipped and there is the option of having a full canopy to extend the accommodation even further.
Entering the saloon through the centrally-positioned teak double doors you are immediately impressed by the open and airy feel of the interior. The galley is positioned immediately on the starboard side so that the serving of food to those dining alfresco at the removable cockpit table is easy and convenient.
Forward of the galley is the helm, with its large comfortable seat giving the option of the skipper and navigator sitting together. On tilting the seat forward, a full length cutting board is exposed with draining board under - a perfect extra area for preparing food and draining pots and dishes after meals.
Steering is hydraulic and the instrumentation and controls are all conveniently positioned; there is plenty of free space in the console for owner specified extras such as chartplotters and depth sounders.
The heads is cleverly situated on a lower level forward of the helm which gives plenty of headroom within. The built-in handbasin with towel rail has a hot and cold pressurised water mixer tap/showerhead unit, the water draining through a traditional teak grating to the separate shower sump below for subsequent pump out. The manual toilet can be pumped to a holding tank and there is the option of an electric toilet upgrade if preferred. The railed storage shelf is illuminated and there is an opening porthole above.
At the bow, the diagonally positioned double berth additionally provides daytime lounging and evening entertainment space. Conveniently positioned opposite, on the port side, is a unit housing the customer-specified AV package, normally twelve inch LCD TV, DVD, CD and radio. If the heating option is fitted, there is a ducted hot air outlet here, so that when the privacy curtain is drawn across the area can indeed become very snug! Conversely, on warmer evenings, all portholes and the roof escape-hatch can be opened for ventilation. Under the comfortable mattress there is a voluminous storage locker for bedding and stores.
Moving back into the saloon, the dinette is found on the port side, comprising two double fully-upholstered bench seats (both with storage under) facing over a traditionally styled hardwood table which lowers to form the double child or single adult berth at night. There is abundant head and leg room and the slightly raised position gives an excellent view all round. Ventilation is plentiful, with sliding tinted glass side windows and also a hinged watertight roof hatch.
Leaving the saloon rearwards, the cockpit is found to be spacious and comfortablefor relaxing and entertaining. The practical seating is stylish and with the table installed the whole area becomes a perfect place for barbecues and drinks, complete with external washbasin.
If the optional heating system is fitted there is even an outlet here for ducted hot air so that alfresco living can continue comfortable well into the night!
For apres swim, or just cooling off, there is a hot and cold pressurised water deck shower unit and, with the optional canopy fitted, shade or shelter is offered with the flexibility of removable panels all round. The external helm offers the single-handed skipper easier mooring and close-handed manoeuvering and the forward bollard(s), aft and midship cleats make tying-up that much easier.
Solid pulpit and pushpit railings give a feeling of safety and security when moving around decks, especially important for those family occasions when small children are aboard. Textured non-slip side decks, along with cabin roof and foredeck grabrails, offer safe passage forward to the bow where the option of an electric windlass make anchoring effortless; chain and warp is automatically stowed in the chain locker on retrieval and stainless steel bollard(s) and twin fairleads help with ropework.
Paul Burborough, Managing Director of Trusty says:
"The Trusty T23 will suit those wanting a comfortable weekender for cruising and socialising and perhaps even a little fishing. It will accommodate two adults and two children for overnighting, and four to six adults for day use. Single-handers can opt for the exterior helm position to help with close-quarters manoeuvring and docking, and sailors moving from the complications of 'rag and string' will appreciate the turn-the-key-and-go convenience and stable, comfortable ride of the displacement twin-bilge hull. She will readily beach for those occasions when the children want to build sandcastles and we have designed in every possible feature to make life comfortable aboard - from courtesy lights in strategic positions to aid safe passage, to a cockpit sink to save going inside for washing up during barbecuing or fishing, and everything in between! She has attained Category B status and offers safe, comfortable, economical and, above all, STRESS-FREE enjoyment afloat."
Mark Chapman, Managing Director of Global comments:
"We are proud to be associated with Paul and his team at Trusty. The quality of design and attention to detail in the Trusty T23 are remarkable and set new standards for vessels of this size and type.
The Trusty 23 will be an obvious choice for anyone contemplating a purchase in this category. Contact us to find out more."
