Navigation and Communications
Triumph has a 12-mile Raytheon radar system. We have used Amateur radio and Marine SSB for communications, weather, and e-mail while cruising. Navigation has been primarily with digital charts supplemented by paper charts and cruising guides. The Marine VHF has excellent range. There is an excllent chart table over the inside steering station. The fluxgate compass and Autopilot interfaces with the Furuno GPS for precise self steering.
Heating and Cooling
Triumph is heated by two reverse cycle air conditioning units which can be run by onboard generator, 110 or 220 volt shore power, plus a ( new 2004) Webasto forced air diesel heater which can be used for heating when, at anchor, underway, or at dock . The split A/C system cools the boat comfortably yet is quiet and efficient.
AC & DC Power
Triumph has a 7 KVA isolation transformer with taps for 250 220, and 120 voltages. 50/60 cycles. The 120 volt ac battery charger is part of the 2.5 KW, 110 volt inverter system. The main engine has a 150 amp alternator, feeding 4 - 8D house batteries and one start battery. The 8kw genset will charge the batteries, run the water maker, hot water heater, A/C units plus all the entertainments and computer systems on the boat. Two Siemens solar panels keep the battery bank charged when the boat is not attended plus supplies about 70 amp hours per day of usable power.
