Description
Catana 381 Catamaran
TUNED-UP CATANA 381 - Closed-slot, Flat Top Power Head mainsail fully battened & a Calverts Tri-Radial Genoa @ $6,000 plus compression ladder on front beam to prevent fore-stay sag plus 540 watts of Solar Panels, to name but a few extras on this boat. Full list available on request.
Waking Dream is a beautiful and well maintained Catana 381 catamaran that has benefited from $63,000US improvements since 2006. At just under 39 ft. LOA, the Catana 381 is at the small (and most affordable) end of the popular Catana range of performance cruising catamarans. She meets the French Catagory 1 requirements for offshore yachts. The Catana 381 has the well-proven features of her larger sisters, including twin dagger-boards for upwind efficiency, good underwing clearance to avoid pounding and asymmetrical hulls with Tulip cross sections for pitch dampening and excellent reserve buoyancy for safe surfing. Her cockpit features an elevated helm station aft and on the center line for excellent visibility and easy gunsight steering. Transom steps provide easy water access and dinghy handling and launching is via the transom arch. Inside the bridge deck cabin you will find an efficient galley, a navigation station and a double leg table with panoramic views. Below in the hulls are comfortable accommodations for up to six persons in a 5 ft. wide double berths as well as a private head amidships in each hull.
Waking Dream has been regularly maintained and upgraded by her owners. From 2006 through 2011, she has had US$56,000 spent on her over the past 5 years resulting in 40 plus items upgraded/new. List available.
This Cat points to windward at 35/40 deg, now I have closed the slot and fitted the Power Head Mainsail, I can out point Monohulls in a blow and sail her in 30 knots of wind without Reefing if I pinch to windward. You don't have to do this, she has 3 slab reefing points, I just like showing these monohulls how its done.
When sailing I Anchor the boat every night for 5 months of the year and don't need Marina berthing to charge the Batteries up, the 4 Solar panels do this. I save thousands of $ per year when I live aboard for 5 months at Anchor, in 2010 I spent nothing on Marina fees during my 5 months afloat.
This boat is not for Catamaran Condo living type people, this is a sailing boat first and foremost that has all the comforts of Home.
