Owner's Comment
The hull of MARDLING was originally built in 1981, but it was not until 1985, when purchased by the present owner, that work started on fitting out. This was carried out by boat builders employed directly by the owner and the work completed in 1997 when the yacht was first commissioned. The building, specification and plans for the yacht are very fully documented and photos taken during construction are available.
The yacht is designed as a serious offshore liveaboard passagemaker, and was selected as preferred boat by Jimmy Cornell ( of ARC fame) in his 1983 Suva Survey of 62 yachts, Modern Ocean Cruising.
Orinally intended for a passage to New Zealand the owner decided to curtail this plan and headed for the Mediterranean when the yacht has cruised until now.
