Work programme to bring Wimbi Nyota functionally up to scratch/ May 2008/ quote by Kilifi boatyard
.PAINTING Sand the hull, apply one coat of HB 2 pack epoxy primer, make good to any imperfections in the gel coat of the hull, spray paint the hull with 2 pack imported Barocryl white top coat, re-do the boot top and the top stripe.
.Below the waterline, sand the antifouling down to a smooth surface, check if there is any blistering in the gel coat and if necessary repair (very improbable). Apply two coats of Jotun red Seaforce self polishing antifouling.
.On the deck and cockpit a.Replace 4 bases of stanchions and refit the life lines
.In the cabins: a.Remove the PVC headlining in the sleep cabins, fore and aft. Clean the surface underneath and paint white with as many coats of epoxy primer as needed to get a nice clean looking surface (which however will not be smooth) b.Service the cooker and make it operational c.Check the working of the pressurised water system and repair if necessary d.Remove the hot-water boiler if wanted e.Check the working of the fridge and repair if necessary Check the working of the bilge pumps and repair or replace if necessary
.Anchors a.Refit the anchor roller b.Check the condition of the anchor chain, if badly rusted have it re-galvanised c. Buy second hand anchor winch
.Engine and electrics a.Check the condition of the electrical wiring and repair where necessary b.Supply 4 new ordinary batteries of 95 or 100 AmpH c.Remove the engine from the boat and overhaul it. Re-fit the engine
.Life raft a.Have life raft serviced by African Marine
.Mast, winches and rigging a.Service the furling gear and repair the aluminium tube b.Service all the winches
Our quotation for the above work is € 7500. The quotation does not does not include the cost of a second hand anchor winch, because the only second hand winch we have is a manual winch. The cost of a new electric winch depends on the kind you buy, but it will not be less than € 1000. We hope that we will be able to repair the aluminium tube of the furler. We may have to improvise something.
