Gauntlet 14 ton sloop Ame is canoe stern, 14 ton, Gauntlet sloop designed as an ocean racer by Rodney Paul and built by Berthons of Lymington in 1947. Construction is of African Mahogany planking on Oak frames. All seams are splined. Her Lead keel is fastened with Bronze keel bolts - all inspected 1998. Her hull has been epoxy glass sheathed below the waterline to give long term protection from marine borers in warm waters.
"Ame", formerly "Lady Emma Hamilton" and "Gemini", offers 4 berths in three cabins, the forepeak being given over to stowage and a workshop for long term live-aboards. There is 6ft 3ins standing headroom throughout.
Mechanical propulsion is by Mercedes OM636 4-cylinder 42hp diesel engine.
