Standing at the base of the companionway, the fully equipped head with corian counter tops is to Port, the aft quarter berth with a full size king bed is to Starboard. Moving forward, the galley is to Port and chart table/dinette/settee is Starboard. Far forward is the plop space.
HEAD Stainless steel sink, Corian counter top, electric macerating head, Nicro solar powered night/day vent. Separate, enclosed shower stall with room to stand upright while showering. Shower stall also has a bench seat with access to some plumbing and limited storage. 12V powered vent in stall area. A panel in the Stall area accesses a wet locker that can also be accessed from the cockpit.
AFT QUARTER BERTH This king-sized berth has a 4-draw dresser, opening port to cockpit for ventilation and can be enclosed for privacy by means of a hidden privacy panel and folding door.
GALLEY Double bowl SS sink with hot/cold pressure water and bronze manual fresh or salt water pump. Smartly laid out storage areas. Corian counter tops. Nova Cool freezer/fridge with drainage to a sump pump (not bilge). Force 10 stainless steel 3-burner propane stove with oven is gimbaled (with lock). Counter extension covers cook-top when not in use or stows securely under the oven.
CHART TABLE/DINETTE/SETTEE The Corian dinette table doubles as a chart table. It has two self-contained storage compartments below hinged lids to store charting equipment. The dinette area includes storage space for charts, navigation and electronics equipment, the electrical panel, house battery bank, starting battery tool/spares storage and book shelves. A sliding panel covers either the book shelves or the electrical panel.
PLOP SPACE If you've been on a Gozzard or taken a virtual tour on their web site [www.gozzard.com], then you know all about what our friends have designated as "The Plop Space". Photos, and even the virtual tour, don't do the plop space justice. You need to be on a mooring in a quiet cove, rafted with friends to experience the phenomenon.
In the plop space, find comfortable couches that both hide useful storage areas and also convert into a centerline queen sized berth. This area can become a private state room by means of what Gozzard calls "immagineering". What's immagineering? Suffice to say that if you like scrumptious cabinetry, fine woodworking, attention to detail and magic, then you'll like immagineering. The plop space contains signature Gozzard lamps, book shelves, hidden wine rack, liquor cabinet, swing-out entertainment center, 4-draw dresser, closet with door-front cubby-holes, cavernous cedar-lined storage locker and under sofa storage areas. Additional storage space is available under the sole. We store Gatoraid and soda in this space when cruising. |

Structural
All FRP calculations are based on a hand lay-up of knitted double bias EGlass cloth using marine grade resins. All laminated schedules are recommended and approved by the material suppliers and are based initially on existing technology and known successful examples of comparably sized vessels, then adapted and modified to suit Gozzard’s renowned level of construction and quality. The hull is molded from female production tooling. The laminate is a “sandwich” cored construction. The "Baltec" Balsa Core increases panel stiffness, strength, impact resistance and sound/thermal insulation while maintaining an excellent weight to strength ratio. Most of the weight saved by using the cored laminate is then re-applied in extra skin thickness either side of the core, making the laminate schedule "robust in the Gozzard tradition". Only marine grade Cook laminating resins are used. The gelcoat is an NPG/ISO Cook "Buffback". It is backed (skinned) with Hydrex-100 vinyl ester resin. Only white gelcoat is used below the waterline for better quality control. The hull laminate is constructed of knitted double bias E-glass CM cloth. Additional CM cloth reinforcing is utilized in the bow, trail-board, chainplate, mast step and transom areas. The core material measures 1/2"in thickness. The core is installed using hand laid techniques. The core runs from the cove stripe to approximately 10” from the centerline. The coring material is eliminated and replaced with a solid glass laminate in the areas of the sheer line, centerline, keel, rudderpost, and thru-hulls. Finish above the waterline is Off White gelcoat with the standard broad stripe Below the waterline is finished with 12 mils (dry) of INTERPROTECT 2000 barrier coat to create a "primed" surface for the bottom paint. The hull is painted annually with Micron CSC Extra anti-fouling paint. Plumbing The original fresh water plumbing used polybutylene tubing which is no longer manufactured. New/replacement plumbing utilizes color-coded Flex-Pex tubing and Flair-It fittings which are compatible with the original system. I used the popular Whale water system for repair work at first, but have since removed it in favor of the Flair-It system. 80 Gallon aluminum fresh water tank sits directly over the keel. Super Stor SS-12M 1500 Watt 12 Gallon hot water tank is plumbed to the engine’s heat exchanger and also has a 110VAC heating element for when shore power is available. Hart Tank Tender located at the Navigation Station measures levels in each tank. Flo-jet pressure pump supplies hot and cold water to the head vanity, galley sink, shower and cockpit shower. Interior As with all Gozzard Yachts, all usable space is made accessible for storage or machinery. Where necessary, overhead panels, hull lining, nut covers, etc., are made removable for easy access to wiring and deck hardware. All counters are made of Corian Joinery Work The interior wood is American cherry finished with a rubbed effect varnish. Caned cabinet doors are elegant and provide ventilation. All drawers are dove tailed and are installed on sliders. All ply-woods are made with marine grade cores and waterproof glues. All trims, fiddles, face frames, kicks and doors are solid cherry and have the backside and end grain cuts sealed. All furniture and cabinets constructed with plywood have the end cuts finished with solid stock so they can not absorb water. All end grains are sealed. Cabin soles are teak and basswood (tongue and groove) and are made from solid stock not veneer. The sole is glued to a structural FRP structure and access panels are provided where required. Upholstery and Cushions Custom color-matched interior designed by S & S Fabrics includes cushions, seat backs, curtains and bedding. Cushions and seatbacks are covered in teal ultrasuede. (10) Closed cell cockpit seat cushions and backs. Ventilation (1) Teak butterfly 34"x20" opening deck hatch with screen (plop space) (1) Teak butterfly 15"x20" opening deck hatch with screen (dinnette area).

Folding screens for companionway doorway. Sliding screen for companionway hatch.
Stainless Weldments All pulpits, davits, stanchions, etc. are manufactured using hand polished 316 Stainless Steel. All assemblies are designed to be removable. The bow pulpit is fitted on the sprit platform with the aft most legs secured to the bulwarks of the deck. The forward center leg secured to the bow weldment and has the bow Bi-color light integrated. The stanchion bases are mounted to the side of the bulwark (not on the teak) for improved rigidity with SS backing plate. Where access to the standard backing plates is difficult due to interior confines, such as behind the icebox, the backing plate is permanently installed with tapped holes so the bases can be removed from outside. The upper portion of the double lifeline is located 31” above the deck. Port and starboard boarding gates are equipped with adjustable pelican hooks. Chainplates are bolted through hull with SS backing plates complete with dedicated lightning ground attachment point. 3 Loop and 5 Loop teak handrails are positioned near the side decks on the coach roof. Dinghy davits are incorporated into the stern rails. The dinghy hoists are 4:1 tackle with snap shackle attachments that each lead forward to a jam cleat mounted to the davit within easy reach from the cockpit. The davits also are used as a base for the flagpole and the Loran C antenna.

Deck
The deck is finished with Cook “Buffback” Off White gelcoat. All horizontal surfaces (walkways) have a molded sand type non-skid surface. The cockpit sole is finished with teak decking for improved durability, excellent wear and dirt resistance. Only genuine Asian Teak is used for the exterior woodwork including the coach roof “Eyebrow”, the bow sprit platform, cap rail, butterfly hatches, cockpit sole and other trim. The hull-deck joint is covered with a solid teak cap rail. In addition to being visually attractive, it provides a second and completely independent seal for the hull to deck joint creating as dry a joint as possible. The cockpit is surrounded by a teak taft rail set on turned teak spindals. Taft rail sections are joined using beautiful “Murphy” scarf joints.
Canvas Sunbrella canvas bags help provide rope organization and keep the cockpit tidy. Bag on pod for mainsheet, Bags either side of companionway for other running rigging. Sunbrella canvas Pod cover (cockpit table, instruments and wheel). Sunbrella canvas covers for wooden butterfly hatches. Sunbrella canvas covers for taft rail. Sunbrella canvas covers for wooden hand rails. Sunbrella Navy Top complete with heavy weather dodger panels. The fixed hard windshield serves as the base for an extreme heavy weather dodger and navy top. In the dodger mode, clear vinyl panels are zipped in the front and sides in a low profile position allowing low windage and excellent visibility both through and over. In the navy top position, the vinyl panels are removed and the remaining bimini portion slides up and forward on a track mounted on the hard windshield to increase head room and move the bimini directly over the companionway for sun and rain (drizzle) protection. Sunbrella Helm Bimini Sunbrella Mid Section covers between Bimini and Navy Top creating a complete rain cover for the cockpit. Full Cockpit Enclosure with custom clear vinyl panels. Starboard, Port and Transom zippered openings provide access. Starboard, Port, Tansom and soft dodger all provide screen panels behind zippered clear vinyl. This is a great feature when on the hook in inclement weather. We also use the full enclosure as a green house of sorts when attempting to extend our New England sailing season into the colder weather. It’s nice to walk into a 70 degree cockpit first thing in the morning after a snappy 40 degree fall night. Large sunbrella canvas zippered bag holds any canvas/vinyl not in use. This boat has a lot of canvas and vinyl, and it's nice to have a single bag to keep it all organized. Anchoring System Bow sprit is equipped to handle 2 bow anchors in roller assemblies located at the end of the sprit. The rode locker, which is located in the front half of the sail locker, is divided and can handle 250’ of 5/16” HT chain on the primary and 60’ on the secondary.
