Description

Hallberg Rassy 39
See our website for full details. An extremely well equipped boat, including generator, ready to sail either locally or further afield. Superb, safe and fast.

Inventory and Extras

Comfort & Interior

Webasto heating and hot and cold water (inc immersion) give comfort when living aboard, and supply the heads, galley and deck shower taps with controllable hot and cold water, from the two water tanks which hold 450litres. There is also a salt water pump in the galley, and an additional tap providing fully purified drinking water direct from your water tanks (using a seagull water filter).

We have chosen a beige upholstery, brown/beige carpet and cream curtain material, which make the boat lovely and light. The galley work surface is also white.

We have fitted oceanair skyscreens to all main hatches (3) which can either be open, closed or cover the hatch with netting. In addition, there are hella fans placed in the galley, saloon, navigation table and main cabins. Both saloon berths have fitted lee cloths, and an additional back cushion for extra comfort in the main saloon area. We have added a bookshelf in the stern cabin which was handmade in mahogany (beautiful and practical) and opted for the wider berth option.

She has 230v shore power, circuit breaker, long shore cable (which doesn’t kink!) and 4 outlets. When the generator is running, it is also possible to use the electrical outlets.

On deck, there are cockpit cushions, pushpit seats and stereo/cd speakers in the cockpit. The stereo unit below was replaced in 2009 and can easily be connected to an MP3 player.

There is also a bimini for hot weather and full spray hood extension cover for winter, rain or colder weather. The spray hood was replaced in 2009.

All deck winches have canvas covers in addition to a wheel/compass cover.

Exterior

Both the decks and coach roof are in teak, with varnished washboards and outer chart tables. Additional sockets and a bracket have been placed under the spray hood to accommodate the radar (in fact we have only ever used it here when sailing, but store it below for safety). There is also a perspex washboard and HL1000 lock and padlock.

Mast mounted is the Radar Reflector, 4kx radome and GPS antenna linked into the RL80CRC+ radar/plotter, with C Map charts from Norway to Gibraltar (mostly 2009). This has a large display and is easily readable from almost anywhere in the cockpit – including behind the wheel! Raymarine ST60 depth, speed and wind displays are above the companionway and again easily readable. At the top of the mast is a DSC / hawaii integrated antenna for DSC/gsm/vhf/ssb/amfm radio, and tricolor light.

There is a mast mounted spinnaker pole and removable bowsprit (used for flying the gennaker). We have put granny bars either side or the mast for safety and security (brilliant!) which also make a great fender storage area when underway!

On the steering column/pedestal are the Volvo engine dials and the ST 7001G+ autopilot, along with a winch pocket and additional vhf socket and holder for a vhf radio repeater in the cockpit – so useful! The anchor winch can also be controlled using the up/down switch mounted on the column. The anchor is a 45lb CQR (100% reliable to date), with a minimum of 80 metres of 10mm grade 40 galvanised anchor chain with over-sized link welded in at the end for a 16mm shackle, plus second bow roller. In addition, there is a neat, light but effective fortress anchor with pushpit fittings should you require a stern anchor, and a bow ladder for boarding if you are moored Mediterranean style. A teak outboard motor bracket is also mounted on the pushpit, along with a 8hp Yamaha outboard motor (which has a separate fuel tank stored in the aft lazarette), and an Avon 4 man inflatable dingy is stored in the large starboard cockpit locker. We opted for a dividing bathing ladder for ease of use and more attractive stowage.
The backstay is insulated and has a tensioner, and for the optional cutterstay rig, she has additional halyards, running backstays, extra cars and sheets. A halyard deck fitting at the base of the mast provides neat storage for both the standard and additional halyards.

She has two harness points in the cockpit and running jackstays to either side for safety. In addition, there are brass strips next to the cleats and port and starboard openings in the station wires.
Sails

Fully battened mainsail with 3 reefing points plus furling working jib and large 150% furling genoa, both with e-foam and UVC protection strip. There is a furling gennaker and storm jib for use with the inner forestay, both with their own sets of sheets.

Electronics

A number of these have already been mentioned (radar, wind instruments etc). Additional equipment includes:
Furuno stand alone GP32 GPS with separate pushpit mounted arial
Icom M601 DSC Vhf radio with cockpit repeater
SSB radio (including grounding plates) and pactor modem, which can provide access to weather information and email capability from anywhere in the world
NMEA/RS232 pc point for connecting pc to various equipment
ICS Navtex
DCC 4000 battery status indicator

Engines & Electricity & Safety

Volvo Penta D2-55 55HP, 4-cylinder fresh water cooled diesel engine, professionally and personally serviced and maintained. The prop shaft is Stainless steel and has a Volvo folding propeller. A rope cutter is also attached.

Behind the engine is a properly mounted Mastervolt Whisper 3500 diesel generator in its own sound cocoon. This can also be accessed via the large, starboard cockpit locker. Additional lighting has been added to the engine room for easier working.

The two diesel tanks hold 395 litres with a fuel gauge at the chart table.

There are two separate 12v battery banks, a dedicated one for engine start, and the other bank containing 4 x 140Ah batteries for domestic use, which were replaced in 2009.
An emergency link switch connects both battery banks if required for emergency engine starting. The domestic batteries are charged by two 60A engine driven alternators, by shore power or by the ship’s generator.

We have fitted an Aquair 100 towed turbine water generator with wind vane attachment for emergency use – thankfully never required.
