Raymond Wall Classic Sloop Senechal II is a 7 Ton sloop designed by Raymond Wall Ltd of North Fambridge Essex and built by French Brothers Ltd of Battlesbridge Essex in 1964 for a Mr KG Miller. Construction is Iroko planking copper fastened to steamed Canadian Rock Elm frames. The main deck is 1/2 inch marine ply covered with glass cloth and epoxied, laid over Iroko beams with laminated spruce half beams and hanging knees. She has a long, lead keel and bronze keelbolts and bronze and Oak floors. She had a new mast, stainless steel rigging and new mainsail in 2000.
She provides 4 berths in an open plan layout, has a galley, heads and navigation table. She is fitted with a Monitor servo pendulum windvane self steering gear and has an electric autopilot for inshore use.
Mechanical propulsion is by Perkins Perama 20 3-cylinder 18hp diesel engine. Her voyaging with previous owners has been the subject of many magazine articles and includes: two circumnavigations of Britain, to Denmark and to the Azores. The current owner bought her in 1996 and has regularly cruised the Southern North sea and French coasts mostly single handed.
