History of Alpa Boats

Alpa Boats is an esteemed Italian boat manufacturer that established their watermark in the world of marine endeavours back in 1946. Founded by Diomede Carcano in Arosio, near Como, they initially manufactured elements for bicycles, motorcycles and small displacement engines, later advancing to their globally recognised status in the boating industry in 1961. Alpa Boats was a pioneer in using fibreglass in boat building and their graceful and powerful yachts soon gained attention, fame, and popularity.

At its peak, Alpa Boats was producing up to 2,500 boats a year, making them one of the largest boat manufacturers in Europe. From Odin, the first 7.5-metre sailboat made entirely of fibreglass, to their larger luxurious models such as the Alpa Boats 11.50, their repertoire is diverse and expansive. Whilst they manufactured a large range of powerboats, Alpa Boats dominant presence laid in sailboats, creating classics like the Phantom line in partnership with globally lauded designers including Carlo Sciarrelli and André Mauric.

In 1975, the company faced financial distress and ceased operations, leaving a rich legacy in boat craftsmanship. Today, Alpa Boats is remembered for their approach to modern boat building and their distinctive designs, still widely acclaimed and loved among boating enthusiasts. The legacy of Alpa Boats lives on through their vintage boats that are still sailing the seven seas, cherished for their distinguished Italian styling, innovative engineering, and exceptional sailing prowess.
