History of Marex

Marex, a boat manufacturing company from Norway, continues to make a name for itself in the global boating industry with its immense commitment to quality, design, and practicality. The company's success story began in 1973 in a small town named Lindaas. Lindaas is nestled among fjords, providing the perfect ecological atmosphere for boat testing and high-quality craftsmanship. The founders, the Rasmussen brothers, Tommy and Hugo, started manufacturing boats in their father's garage. From these humble beginnings, the company built a strong foundation in the boating industry.

Fast forward a couple of decades later, the company's production facilities are now based in Kaunas, Lithuania. However, the brand has retained its Norwegian heritage, continuing to conform to the high standards of Norwegian marine craftsmanship. The shift to Lithuania provided Marex with a larger manufacturing space and access to skilled labour. The company continued to grow, innovate and diversify, establishing itself as a leader in the industry.

Today, Marex stands as a symbol of innovative design, durable materials, and exceptional seaworthiness. Each boat is designed and manufactured with a perfect balance between aesthetics and practicality, offering superior comfort, safety, and experience. Despite the growth and success, Marex remains a family business, now led by Espen Aalrud, Tommy Rasmussen's son-in-law. The company's aim remains the same - manufacturing world-class motorboats that are functional, reliable, and built to last. Regardless of where their facilities may be based, the spirit of Marex remains firmly anchored in its Norweigan roots.
