History of Gibson Boats

Gibson Boats holds an esteemed place in the history of boat manufacturing. This American boat manufacturer traces its roots back to the year 1968, when William C. Brummett founded it. The company initially set up operations in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, where they started manufacturing flat-bottom houseboats with a keen focus on quality and durability. They distinguished their crafts with fiberglass hulls, distinctive styling, and spacious interiors, with their designs gaining popularity for both leisure boating and year-round living.

However, a significant change came in 2005 when Lazy Days Marina (now Aquaknox Marine) purchased Gibson Boats. The manufacturing operation was subsequently moved to create a new and modern plant in Portland, Tennessee. Despite the change in ownership and location, the company upheld its dedication to quality and continued offering custom-built houseboats crafted with an acute attention to detail, something integral to Gibson's distinct reputation.

Today, Gibson Boats remains a reputable name in the boating industry, appreciated for creating distinct houseboats that provide the comfort of a holiday home while combining the mobility and thrill of boating. Though the company faced a brief shutdown in 2013, it resumed its operations in 2018 under new ownership, demonstrating resilience and steadfast dedication to its craft. The company is currently based in Cadiz, Kentucky, and continues its classic tradition of manufacturing unique and high-quality houseboats, reinforcing its enduring legacy for innovation and expertise in the world of boating.
