Turbocraft - More than just a cameo - The legendary Bond boat is back

Launched at the end of the fifties Turbocraft (buehler-turbocraft.com) is an historical brand, the first ever to successfully introduce the unique characteristics of the water jet propulsion system.

Turbocraft became the choice of the rich and famous. Its exclusive clientele included Jackie Kennedy who owned one for water-skiing. Ground-breaking technology and distinctive elegance is a cocktail that even M. James Bond himself could not resist to taste. In the 1965 movie “Thunderball” a 19-feet Turbocraft was used for a cameo role of taking Commander Bond back to shore with the beautiful James Bond girl “Domino” Derval. The Buehler Turbocraft boats were also a favourite of the Secret Service thanks to its robust construction, ease of maintenance and manoeuvrability.

In 2015, thanks to a group of Swiss-French entrepreneurs and yacht designers, Turbocraft is officially back with a superb 38-feet luxury day boat design.

The DNA of this luxury day boat is a distinctive blend of innovation, design and craftsmanship. After 3 years of passionate development Turbocraft is now back with Thunderclap, a 38 feet day boat offering curvy lines reminiscent of the sixties, functional features and sophisticated design to cruise with style. Innovation is part of our DNA. Hence, Thunderclap is the first production boat to integrate a hull, deck and furniture’s made of flax fibres to give the boat unique technical characteristics and look.

Faithful to its pioneering heritage the brand perpetuates the use of water jet propulsion that offers unique characteristics: accessibility to shallow water, beaching, rock-bottom maintenance costs and unrivalled manoeuvrability and acceleration. Penned by talented superyacht designers the boat is of course conceived as a perfect superyacht tender: low draft, light weight, functional boarding steps and an unmistakable silhouette to shuttle back-and-forth with style.

Today the design and technical development are finalized and the team is currently launching a crowd-equity campaign on Crowd2fund in UK to raise part of the funds and allow people passionate about entrepreneurship or yachting to own a piece of a luxury boat brand.

If successful the brand will be the first ever luxury brand to be crowd-funded.

The team plans to launch production of the first boat during the first quarter of 2016 and be ready for Fort Lauderdale boat show in November 2016.

Buehler Turbocraft has also started a project to introduce a "Tesla of the Seas" type of day boat.
